Transfer your domain
Move your domain from another registrar. Most transfers add one year to your registration, and the time you already paid for is kept.
Before you transfer
- 1
Unlock the domain at your current registrar.
- 2
Request the authorization (EPP) code.
- 3
Make sure the domain is older than 60 days and was not transferred in the last 60 days.
- 4
Check that the registrant email is current — you may need to approve the transfer.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a domain transfer take?
Most generic domains complete within 5–7 days. Some country-code extensions follow different procedures set by their registry.
Will my website go down during the transfer?
No. DNS keeps working during a transfer as long as your nameservers remain the same.
Can every domain be transferred?
Domains registered or transferred in the last 60 days, and domains under certain registry locks, cannot be transferred until the lock period ends.
